OK, that I can agree with, different posts by different manufacturers......but I didn't know they were different sizes. Like I said, I have never had a problem, and I know I have Spartenburg and Cornelius kegs.

It's not the size (I think they are all pretty close to the same diameter) so much as the locations of those ridges which is what the balls grab. If those ridges are in the wrong place for the connector you will not get a lock-up and no seal.

Almost all of my ball lock gas-in posts have a star-shaped base. The bev-out posts have a six-sided base. Those gas-in posts that don't have a star-shaped base have a groove cut into the six-sided base to differentiate them from bev-outs.

Never had a problem at all. The only time I have ever had a problem is when I have got the liquid and gas mixed up. They only sell one kind of disconnect so this strikes me as odd. Not that it isn't true, just never happened to me and I have gotten a myriad of different kegs.

Check the poppets close. One of my ten gallon that I ferment in started being hard to push on the gas side. On closer inspection after taking that post off.
I found that the foot on the bottom of the poppet came free and the poppet tries to push side ways.

I had my first experience with dual six sided posts this weekend. I've been meaning to ask how to tell the apart - thanks.
