So here is my thing, I take the spear out every time and I don't have the fancy tool; just a couple of screwdrivers. It is a pain but gets easier. I don't trust myself cleaning the things with caustic or acids under pressure; I guess you could use PBW and StarSan for safety but then it probably isn't as fast or thorough, right?
Once the spear is out it is so simple to just rack from carboy to sankey, seal it back up, and pressurize. I don't use them often though since I keep my kegerator set up for cornys. I use the sankeys when I take beer somewhere who doesn't homebrew but has a kegerator.

well, if my situation evolves properly, I can clean the kegs professionally, so there's that...

I want square kegs so they are easier to stack, and more space efficient in the fridge.
