I absolutely agree. Do not dump this till you have tasted the finished product.

As for contacting 5 star I've called them and gotten good answers.

"yes, its supposed to foam like that.. yes it's okay to put your wort on top of it"

On another note, maybe he stopped coming here because the bn is so gosh darn offensive.

In reference to Star San, I'd guess.

One or two ounces of PBW solution in 5 gal of beer isn't going to harm anyone. If it tastes good, drink/serve it.

Here is my theory and it follows up on BrewTa2's comment. Take and ounce or two of an alkali cleaner like PBW, mix with 5 gallons of slightly acidic beer and the results are an acidic solution with most of the alkali falling out as salts and balancing with ions from the overall beer.
Is there anything specifically toxic or harmful in low concentrations? I don't think anyone has established that. I think you are ok. If it were a gallon of PBW I would definitely dump it.

Didn't Charlie Talley say he has drank it? Or was that the Star San? Can't remember now.

Oh, and put me in the "Taste it" camp.

StarSan I believe Dirk. I took a sip of properly diluted StarSan to make a point once. Your stomach is more acidic than StarSan and StarSan is no rinse it should be ok. I wouldn't get the concentrate anywhere near my face though, I bet it could blind you.

PBW is 'rinse' and I didn't hear Charlie talking about tasting it, even diluted. It is probably like tasting dilute diswasher detergent or oxyclean.
