First post - maybe ill make an intro thread in the proper place.
To the questions! I recently got a steal on a bunch of equipment. ($100)
- 1x 15.5 Gal Commercial keg (to convert to kettle)
- 2x 5 gal corny kegs
- 1x 10 gal corny style keg? corny fitting work on it but its 10 gallons.
- 1x "Firestone" keg
- 1x 7.5 Gal Commercial Keg
- 2x March Pumps
- 20lbs C02 Tank
- 4 faucets with towers
- 6 sets of corny fittings
- 5 c02 regulators
- Electric motor to use as grain mill
- Electric Paddle to stir
- 3x 10 inch filter housing
- Tons of misc Hoses and fittings
- Johnson Temp Controller
- 2x 3 Gal Carboys
Ok, So what is the best way to clean all of this equipment? It is old and some of is has some big build-ups (some equipment stored outside).
I'm thinking about getting a ton of PBW mixing it in a 96 Gal trash can with a bunch of water and soaking the big stuff for 1 week or so (rotating each week). All the small parts can go in their own smaller pbw bucket. Once complete, reassemble and Keg a pbw batch run it through everything including the filter assemblies (no filters) and empty. Next keg a Star San batch and empty, Then on to real beer!
Will this work?
Will it work for the pumps as well? (not the soaking but the pushing pbw then star san)?
Also - What size hose is the most common/standard for c02 and beer sides? This batch of stuff is mixed and i'd like to standardize.
All advice is helpful Thanks guys!
