So I pulled a Justin. . .

Tue Jul 29, 2008 7:03 am

This past weekend I was kegging up a german pilsner for lagering so that I could free up my fermentation fridge. I store my kegs pressurized with star san. To remove the star san without pouring it out I used a jumper hose to transfer it from one keg to another by just releasing the pressure valve on the receiving end. Here is where the problem started. I had two kegs sitting next to each other, unmarked. When I went to transfer the pilsner I didnt bother checking which keg had the star san and surely enough transferred the beer straight into the sanitizer. I only realized it when I grabbed the other keg and didnt feel any sloshing. I almost cried a little upon realization. Hopefully it wont taste too soapy.

Hasn't Justin taught you ANYTHING?!?

The Starsan goes in BEFORE fermentation!

Looks like that's a "we're all drunk as shit so let's tap THIS keg and finish it off" kind of beer! :drink

Edit: I wonder if a carpet filter might help it?

I'm right there with you. I did the same thing with a dubbel, but I dumped mine out after realizing my mistake. I saved 2 out of the five gallons and it sucked anyway.

The value of Justin brewing is to be a bad example not an exemplar.
