No advantage that I know of but,
When I built my kegerator, all of my regulators, CO2 filter fittings, and the CO2 distribution check valves from morebeer were all 5/16.
So the easiest thing to do was us 5/16 hosing. Morebeer sells a 5/16 fitting that will connect your 5/16 CO2 line to your keg QD. I think I could only find them on the morewine site.
