Re: Kegging with Gelatin ... Short Dip Tube?

I just cut off a couple of my keg dip tubes by about 3/4 of an inch, and fined a couple of batches with that vegan fining (the name is escaping me right now). Anyway, I'm not sure if it's necessary to cut the dip tube but I have been loving the results and I certainly don't mind losing a pint of yeasty beer.

Seems like you are basically doing the same thing then.....why not leave the dip tubes full length, and dump the first pint.....Cutting 3/4" off a dip tube, I'm sure you are leaving more than a pint behind in the end.

I have never cut a dip tube....I'm ok with dumping the first pint to get to clear beer. But like Tasty said.....if you are impatient, and want clear beer faster, than I can see his point of cutting one in half. Cheers :asshat: :asshat: , hope to see you bitches in 83 days....at NHC!!!!!!

Think "biofine clear" is the name of that vegan fining. How have your results been with that compared to gelatin? My wife's vegetarian and tolerates gelatin (for some reason. fucking veggies) but I wouldn't mind being able to say I made a truly vegetarian super clear beer for her. Gotta score points occasionally if I want to keep brewing :asshat:
