Clear - maybe a kitchen and bath product (or exterior door and window) could handle the moisture, cold, etc.

Be warned - this is not like regular caulk where you can easily wash it off - this stuff is more like tree sap that you seem to have stuck to you for days.

This sounds like a bad idea to me, caulk is not an adhesive, and while it is sticky it doesn't have much for strength. Caulk is intended as a sealant not an adhesive.

However a 2 part epoxy is probably sufficient. Most of them are rated for something like 200 KSI in tension, and for temperatures from -50 to 200.

You could have saved some typing and bumped my comment:
"I would give JBWeld or some other epoxy a try. It isn't flexible but it bonds pretty well to most anything. You might need to rough up the metal surface being bonded. A more flexible compound is contact cement but I don't know if that will stick to metal.
DOW seems to make some really neat stuff to do this though: http://www.dow.com/assets/attachments/i ... SGuide.pdf"

I would try to find a source for one of those specialized adhesives personally; if epoxy doesn't work it will be a bitch to remove. The DOW stuff is specifically meant for adhering to metals.
