Regulator Problem

Fri Nov 06, 2009 6:25 am

I'm having a problem with my CO2 regulator. It was connected to a 5 lb tank which I tipped over, breaking off the stem that connects the regulator to the tank. I went to a welding supply shop and got a new stem which fits just fine and hooked it up to my tank, and attached to a keg to carbonate a beer. The only difference between the stems was that the original one had a small brass insert that looks like it might have been there to restrict some of the air flow.

I checked the beer last night and the pressure gauge was maxed out, even though the regulator was barely on, and I can't turn it down any more without completely shutting it off. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Maybe your gauge got whacked too. Does it zero out when you shut off the gas at the bottle and release the system pressure?

I think so, but it seems like I have to release the pressure a couple times because it slowly creeps up again even with the tank off.

well the creeping up might be CO2 coming out of solution from the beer

just to be sure you might disconnect from your kegs
