Just a side thought, but the disconnects that have threaded attachments are both 1/4 for ball and pin lock kegs. Mate your gas and beer lines with the the same disconnects and then you won't need to worry about the posts.
I might not be understanding this, so please excuse, I am not that smart but I am not cutting the posts, I am cutting the socket so I can remove the posts.
Also thanks Charlie now I know what to look for.
I wouldn't cut anything is what I'm saying- I'd get this http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/kegging/soda-kegs-fittings/pin-disc-1-4-mfl-gas.html and this http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/kegging/soda-kegs-fittings/pin-disc-1-4-mfl-liq.html so that way when you attach either type keg you'll be not have to worry about what type of disconnect you have. I'm making the assumption that the threads match but I don't see why they wouldn't. It's a little more work to adapt your existing lines but I do it on mine just because they're so handy.

. Thanks for all the advice. Oh ya, SanDiegoMatt or anyone else, I got the kegs for free and I am not sure if they are cornelius, I heard there were a couple of other types, so for switching them out with ball locks, how do I know if they will work? How do you release pressue, there are no relief valves on the lids, so do I need to replace the lids with new one's also?
