Carbonation question - beer line related

OK, you guys have solved one of my biggest kegging problems with too much foam VS under carbonated

I switched to the 3/16 ID hose as Tasty suggested and now have a solid 5 foot of it between the keg and the faucet

My question is,

If the beer sits in the line do I need to worry about it? Like going flat or, well anythiing else

I suspect that the beer in the line is under the same pressure as the keg and the resistance of the line only comes into play when the beer is "moving"

is this right?

Or should I flush out the line if it is going to sit for more that a day or so???

Yep. It's fine. As long as the line is cold, the beer will not spoil or loose carbonation. If it says in the line too long, that means you are not drinking fast enough.

Interesting, Mylo. I find the beer in my lines does lose carbonation after a day or so of sitting in the line. There is a noticeable difference during the pour, anyway, when the beer that was in the line is pushed out and replaced with beer from the keg. I never saved the line-beer separately for a taste; I should do that sometime.

I suppose if it sat longer than a few days, then it might pick up some plastic-y flavor from the line. However, if you have a good quality Micromatic or Foxx line, that shouldn't be a problem either. I have noticed that the beer in the line doesn't taste as "fresh" as the rest of the pour - and maybe because that small volume of beer is more suceptible to the 2 degree swings of my chest freezer??

That's a good point - I went ahead and flushed out my line anyway - I want my keg to age for a week if possible - I'm really bad about drinking my beer before it had time to mature
