I have drilled through the side of my upright fridge so that I could keep the CO2 outside. There's some info out there on the internet that tells you how to use some kind of spray on concoction (made of water, baking soda, marshmallow, and some other stuff) to try to locate any cooling lines that might be in the fridge walls. Personally, I just took my chances. That's the kind of guy I am. It worked fine. But definitely don't lay a CO2 tank on it's side and open the valve.
