well.....batch 2 just went into a keg.

I remade it. It didn't come out the same! It may have come out even better!!!!!!


I am going to nurse this keg like a newborn.....checking it every 30 minutes to see if it has sprung a leak. I am drinking the hydrometer reading sample at 9:30am and I've loving life.

Thank you beer god for making me fuck up my first alt only to comeback at you with even a better alt!!!!

as someone who's not yet kegged anything, I don't understand what happened?

When you put the faucets and lines and stuff together, is there a chance for leakage? or were you so drunk that you left the tap on?

there was a leak at the ball lock disconnect all the beer emptied out and then my CO2 drained. It was a sad sad day!

There's always a chance for a leak. A pin hole on either side can mean an empty keg, or an empty CO2 tank. Sometimes the poppets leak, and you will loose beer or gas - without the keg being hooked up. Starsan leak test is your friend.

Poppets fail all the time. I've never had one completely blow out, but on one or two occasions I've returned to my kegerator to find one seeping beer after I'd disconnected the tap and line. I always keep plenty of spares around. Sucks to lose good beer. I think the most I've ever lost through a leaky valve is about half a gallon.

Still... I've seen way worse in commercial breweries. A few that come to mind are:

1) Removing the wrong side of a butterfly valve on a 15bbl serving tank that was full.
2) Thinking the bright tank was empty and removing the carb stone.
3) Accidentally setting the temp to 45 degrees on a Belgian during primary when you meant to set it at 75.
4) And on and on...
