EPIC Pale Ale CYBI show

Sat Dec 18, 2010 5:49 pm

Has anyone brewed the EPIC Pale ale clone? If so, how did it turn out? How did you like it? I am very curious to try this one. This beer sounded really good on the webcast.

Thanks :jnj

I am curious as well...Just finished listening to the show and it sounds like its almost more of an IPA. I would love to know if anyone has brewed it.
Pouring - Infidel Porter, Pallino Wit
Fermenting - Till a rustic Saison
On Deck - Abbey Dubbel, Belgian Golden Strong maybe with brett

I Brewed it and it turned out great! One of the best Pale Ales I have ever tasted. It was a big hit at my club and we all agreed it was excellent. Not sure if I cloned the real thing though since I have never seen Epic Pale Ale in stores around my town. I just thought it sounded good and it sure was.

I am definitely brewing this again with no changes.

Funny thing though, when I entered it into Hopville the IBU's only calculated to about 18. I don't see how that works because it really tasted hoppy. I would guess it to be well over 30 and probably into the mid 40's based on other Pale Ales I have brewed. Not sure why...

I brewed it and it is sitting on the dry hops right now. I can't wait to try it since I've managed to try Epic Mayhem and Armageddon and both were awesome. For some reason I was able to find those, but not the Pale Ale. Go figure.

Speaking of this recipe and the dry hop. Chesswrangler, or Tasty if you are reading, for the second addition dry hop addition what temperature did you drop for the cold conditioning?

I brewed it, and it turned out awesome, and didn't last long. I too have never had Epic's version, so I couldn't tell you if it was cloned, but it will be brewed again.

All the CYBI recipes on over at HomeBrew Talk. Not sure why there's not a sticky with them all here at the BN.
