Thoughts on SMaSH

I am new to brewing and I am listening to the podcasts on my drive to work. I am soaking up the knowledge you are passing on like a sponge, but I would like to get your thoughts on SMaSH beers. Maybe some tips for formulating great single malt-single hop recipes, things or combo's to avoid, do you have a favorite, etc.
