And why is it always Jamil! He couldn't clone this many beers! No one can clone that many without blending. If he wasn't cloning then MY clones would have a show waaahhhh I'm throwing peanuts at the CYBI page
On tap 1: Dry Irish
On tap 2: El Jefeweizen
On tap 3: Vienna
kegged: Rye Amber, Belgian Dark Strong, CYBI Mirror Pond, Irish Red, RIS
lagering: Vienna, Helles, Cream Ale, CAP

Ah.... looks like I'll have to quit cloning too.

If you expect every show to be a beer that you would personally request, then you're going to be very disappointed. We're trying to do more than just the same old beers.

Some beers get dozens of requests, some only get a few, but every beer that we've done has been requested. Most beers are requested by several people and most breweries by lots of people. For example, I think we only had one request for the Captain Lawrence Smoked Porter, three for the Xtra Gold, but probably ten or more requests for various CL beers total. If I had tasted Xtra Gold before then, I guarantee I would have made the request myself. What an awesome request. The folks that made that request I'd be willing to put near the top of my list in the future.

I think Riggwelter is freaking awesome and I buy it all the time (nearly $5 a bottle). When Neil Spake and I met, that was the first beer I sent him to hunt down. He also did interviews for a beer with around 50 requests (coming up soon). None of the interviews just fall into our lap and that is not a reason to clone a beer.

I hope that folks take these shows as a learning opportunity and not just a way to get a clone recipe. There is so much to learn from listening to different brewers and finding out about beers you can't get at your local store. These are all great beers, so it is a good way to expand your horizons.

I'll give you all fair warning, I'm going to try and get some interviews while in New Zealand and Australia next month. If you find that upsetting, then you can always skip those shows.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

+100.......Hear hear

I came across a Riggwelter at the local Andronico's and would never have given this beer a second thought had I not listened to the CYBI show. That beer is awesome! The interview that Neil gave was one of the best, like listening to an old Beatle's tape. I can't wait for another Neil interview.

The only thing I would like to suggest would be to have one of us "asshat" brewers brew up a clone and have it evaluated right along with the actual beer and the CYBI "semi-pro" brewers beer, to see how we do when given a specific recipe and instructions. I know we can do this on our own and have side by side tastings at home, but having the information out there during an episode may help others with their processes.
So, I am volunteering for this task if so desired. There are quite a few local to the Rat Pad brewers that could do this and bring in their beer in a timely manner for the show.

Keep up the good work!

I think the show is awesome. Almost all of the beers I can not get here in Canada. It really gets me searching when I go down to Washngton or Oregon.

The only problem is that I have is that almost all of them lately are big beers (barley wines, smoke porters, and the like).
I would like to see some lighter stuff in there as well. A wit, a Heff, a Helles, yes maybe even a lager. Especially with summer fast approaching.

Thanks for a great show Jamil and crew!
You have vastly improved my brewing...and made it alot of fun along the way!
