Do you guys recommend Star San or Iodophor for my primary? I am using a 6.5 gallon bucket by the way.

Starsan for everything.
I really love that stuff. It takes all my sanitation worries away. Completely.
I remember sitting and worrying about infection due to contamination, when I first started out. Starsan has alleviated all of those concerns. Wash your gear well. Use a soft cloth in your buckets. Then sanitize. Nothing to it!

+1! Star san properly mixed is the way to go. I use 5 gallons of distilled water to 1 oz of star san. I store it in a bucket with a lid and reuse many, many times. I only change it when there starts to look like a lot of crud floating around in it.

I keep a keg filled with star san all the time. This allows me to keep my spray bottle filled. I also use it to dispense a cup or two into my carboys to sanitize them. You don't need to fill your fermenter with star san, just add a little and then swirl it around to coat the entire inside. Use your hand or a spray bottle to get it all the way to the top if you are using a bucket. Star san has a surfactant that will make it stick to all surfaces long enough to completely sanitize.

+1, exactly what I do as well. I dump it when it gets super cloudy, or I'll dip a pH strip in there if it's been around a while.
