Hey!

Sun Mar 02, 2008 1:34 pm

So I am new to the forum, obviously.... and I just wanted to say Hi. I've been brewing extract for a little over one year. I've been pretty happy with my beer, but I know it could be better. It seems like every batch I have made has had a distinctive off flavor that I wanted to get rid of. My friends don't notice it, but it bothers me.
Anyways, I'm a student in the Portland Oregon area and I have up here for about 5 years and am enjoying Beervana very much.

Welcome-

Search the site for "extract late". THat's probably the famed 'extract twang' that you are tasting.

Oh, and watch out for Bub.

I'm Pat and dropkick... well I used to listen to the Dropkick Murphy’s a lot, so I adopted the name for instant messengers and whatnot and kept it. Doesn't mean I don't deserve a good dropkick though.

BDawg- Thanks for the warning and the suggestions on Extract Late. I checked it out and I'll see what I can do with it for my next batch, a Kolch.

For some good local help on your brewing, stop in at Steinbarts there in Portland and ask for the guy that goes by Zymurgest here on the forums ( I think his real name is Michel). He's more than a little odd, but he does brew great beer.
