A black lager or Schwarzbier could be a good choice too.

Appreciate all the feedback. Brewed an Oktoberfest/Marzen, actually a double brew day, started with a Porter to get some beer in the kegerator soonest. The Marzen is 2 days in at 50 degrees and seems to be cranking along. Only had 1 tube of WLP820 but did a 3L starter so hope it will be clean enough. The converted chest freezer lager chamber is amazingly stable for temps. It's a whole new world of controlled fermentation temps, lager or otherwise.

To close out, I brewed the Oktoberfest/Marzen. Kegged earlier this week in time for some Fall Festing. Appreciate everyone's input. Think it was decent first effort. Had to shorten the lagering due to a "death in the kegerator". Had a poorly seated poppet valve which resulted in a completely full keg and a full tank of CO2 of ESB being pumped into the inside of the kegerator. Oh the humanity! I have heard of floating a keg, but never floating it in beer...inside a kegerator. Thank God the thing held all the beer and did not leak out onto the floor.

Had the same thing happen to me...with an Octoberfest. All that hard work and aging gone to waste. (also had to clean up a few tears ).
