Good Bottle Shops in Denver, CO or Central North CO

Thu Jan 24, 2013 10:34 am

I'm planning a trip out to CO this summer and was planning on stopping by some beer stores while I'm out there, there will be brewery stops too. I want to get some beers that we can't get here in Alabama. With that said does anyone know of some better bottle shops in Colorado in the Denver, Boulder, Loveland areas? Maybe even up to Fort Collins.

Also if there are any good local breweries to visit that would be cool too. I have been to Great Divide, Odell, New Belgium, Fort Collins, and Avery. I'm planning on stopping by Oskar Blues at some point. We will be in Estes park for just over a week but plan on spending a day down in Denver. We are driving so I have a chance to have a pretty good haul and would like to take the opportunity.

Sounds like you’ve already covered Fort Collins. If you get back up there, try Wilburs. Website has a virtual tour. You can kinda check out what they have.

I had good luck there a couple summers ago. In fact I went in with my family. We were there less than 5 min when my wife turned to my daughters and said, “let’s go kids. Daddy needs to be alone”.
I see drunk people . . . . . .

Liquor Mart in Boulder is pretty good. The staff knows the local beers very well and can make some good recommendations if you're not from the area. If you're going to be in Boulder, check out Upslope brewing in North Boulder. They make by far the best beer in town. Mountain Sun is also worth checking out if you want to go to a brewpub but the beer does not compare to Upslope.

I went here when I was in Denver for a wedding. The selection was very good. I'll definitely be visiting again when I am in town next.

If you like sours, don't miss Crooked Stave in Denver. It was epic. We went after hearing Chad on the session and were not disappointed. Awesome beers.

My sister went to Colorado State University in Fort Collins and we have a family place in Estes Park so when I visited her at college and we hit the stuff in Fort Collins.

Thanks for the tips. I'll look into them, keep them coming!!!
