Almost got knocked on my ass

Wed Jan 18, 2012 6:11 pm

so I was just down in the basement and decided to open up my fermenter thats got stout in it just to see how it was coming. bent down to take in the lovely aroma and it almost passed out the smell was so strong and sharp it was like a cross between pure alcohol and smelling salts . It's one of the set of two batches I did as my first all grain brews!so I'm very new to this. Its only a week and a day into the fermentation but I was wondering if this is something i should be worried about? thanks in advance!

You got yourself a good whiff of pure CO2! Once that disperses, you will smell the goodness. Assuming your temps and sanitation were good, you have nothing to worry about.

Bet it burned those nose hairs right off. Well, at least you'll only do that once. (I hope)
