Just received the BYO yesterday, still waiting for Zymurgy.
Around the 6:00 mark in the Brewing TV interview Abram Goldman-Armstrong mentions that "American PA" is a "regionally biased" descriptor that excludes Victoria, BC. While "America" often refers to the USofA, it also is a geographic descriptor that refers to a couple of continents, and that would include Victoria, BC, so it is an accurate descriptor for a style that also originated in Canada.
As one who resides in the US, but not in America (either continent) and a frequent traveler to "Cascadia", Abram should reconsider the notion that the regional descriptor "America" excludes Canada.
I am looking forward to finding a commercial example of this to taste. As I am not one to be bothered much on what a beer is called, I'll leave that to others. If it is a tasty style (or sub-style) to my palate, I will most likely make my own version and not worry about what it's name should be.
p.s. Why is it when I see a photo of a man with a hyphenated last name wearing a kilt does Monty Python's "Lumberjack" song immediately pop in my head?
