MikeB brought it Strong!

Sun Mar 14, 2010 4:01 pm

Congratulations to MikeB (and his brother Steve) for winning both the WA Homebrewer of the Year award as well as the Bert Grant award.

The WAHOTY award goes to the homebrewer(s) who scores the most points in all of the WAHA sanctioned competitions throughout the past year.

The Bert Grant Award goes to the winner of a very limited competition. The entrants of this competition are limited to only the BOS winners from the WAHOTY competitions. They each submit a beer for each of their BOS winners over the past year, and the winner of that competition wins the Bert Grant Award. It's really the BOS of the BOS's for the past year!

And once again, great job on all of the organizing you did for yesterday.

Great job! :bnarmy: :asshat: :nutters: :jnj :pop

Thanks BDawg. The last two weeks of organizing the competition were hell on me and my family, so to finally get to the event and have it turn out so well was pretty gratifying. To take home Bert for another year, and have my wife and Dad there to witness it was pretty cool. It was great to see friends and fellow BNers do well in the competition. I've sent the winners list to our webmaster, so the competition results should be posted soon.

Congrats Mike. I can only speak for myself- but I entered a damn fine beer in that competition (Bert Grant) and I didn't even place in the top three. Your beer must have been incredible.

I judged the Bert Grant BOS round a few weeks ago, too. Man, that was hard to pick the winner. I can truly say, that round was fantastic.

Just wanted to add more cudos both for the award, and the well planned event. :pop

Me and the G/F had a blast. Based on the number of entries, and the turnout at exbeerience, I'd say you are getting perty near needing a larger venue.

its at least worth considering. i know brad was talking about trying to figure out how many people would be attending and try to estimate the growth compaired to last year. if it ends up being a sell out one year, that might be the motivating factor to get a new venue. but well done competition there mike!
Cheers!

Yah, pretty sure we were over max capacity for the Redhook venue. We're meeting within the next couple of weeks to discuss how things went and what to do better next year. I'd be happy take any feedback from fellow BNers about what worked well at the event and what didn't. Anything to keep this thread going. I was too damn busy to really enjoy the event, so that will be the first thing that will need to be fixed :!:
