I don't know which recipe you're using, but here is my pale mild recipe from a 2005 Zymurgy article for those that are curious.

Pale Mild

Ingredients for 5 U.S. gallons (19 liters)

5.5 lb (2.49 kg) English Pale Malt
0.75 lb. (0.34 kg) Crystal 75L
0.25 lb (0.11 kg) Crystal 120L
0.25 lb. (0.11 kg) Victory Malt 25L
0.80 oz. (23 g) East Kent Goldings hops,
5% alpha acid (60 min.)

White Labs WLP002 English Ale

Target Original Gravity: 1.035 (8.87 Plato)
Approximate Final Gravity: 1.010 (2.45 Plato)
Anticipated SRM: 12.4
Anticipated IBU: 19.7
Wort Boil Time: 90 minutes

Directions: Single infusion mash at 154F (68C) using a thick mash of 1 quart mash water to 1 pound of grain. Ferment at 67F (19C) until yeast drops clear. Transfer to keg or cask, carbonate to 1.5 volumes, and serve at 50 to 55F (10 to 13C).

Extract Brewing: Replace English Pale Malt with 3.9 lbs (1.77 kg) Maris Otter liquid malt extract.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

Yum...that looks delicious! How would a special roast addition fair instead of the victory?

Different, but should be OK. Go for it.

I've brewed the Blond and Smoked Robust Porter my last two batches.

I brewed the Blond for when my BMC buddies are around, but I find myself drinking it way more than I thought I would. Next time around I'm going to up the IBUs very slightly, up to about ~23. It's slightly sweet for my liking right now. I think the extra few IBUs will make it a good compromise for me and the BMCers. Although, maybe I should leave it alone so I won't drink as much of it.

The SRP tastes great. The hop bitterness is very 'in your face' right now, but it's still young. I can see this beer being really great in 6 months. Next time around I'll up the rauchmalt from 20% to 25%-30%. This was my first time using rauchmalt, so I didn't want to overdo it the first time.

I think I'm going to do the Mild next, to build up some yeast for my 2010 Christmas Spiced beer.

I have seen JZ's pale mild in Brew your own, and Pasquinelli's has different hops and more malts I believe. Anyway, I brewed mine a bit bigger (1046) and it turned out awesome! Good to the last drop, even if it only lasted 1 mos!

Ah, yes I mis-spoke. It was the pale mild from BYO July-Aug '09.
