Man... sitting here relatively depressed. Entered an IPA in NHC this year. Second year competing in NHC and had real high hopes. Sent away thinking it was the best beer we'd ever made, but came back with a 29 and a 30. argh... oh well, i suppose i just gotta wipe the dust off and keep on brewing.

Buck up soldier! Happens to everyone, some of us for decades. 29 and 30 are not to be sneezed at! Hopefully the judges comments will point you in the right direction to pick up another 10 points. A 30pt beer means most things are mostly right, a few things need improvement and nothing is God-awful. You're on the right track - Brew Strong!

Ill second Brewtats thoughts. Remember in Zymurgy mag most pro beers get judged as a high 30's beer. Sometimes I think in the homebrew ranks we suffer from general score inflation. As the score sheet says, low 30's is a good score.
