Re: Community Brew - What's Next?

I got my e-mail instructing me who to ship my beer to and who will be shipping to me. The only question I have is how the tele-conference is going to work. I don't know who has the same beers as me; I need to know that, right? So that I know who to contact about setting up a conference call.

Also, I want to take the opportunity to say Thank you to Mylo for setting this up. I know coordinating this kind of thing is a lot of work and a huge pain in the ass. So CHEERS! to Mylo! :jnj

Thanks, brotha.

On the email you received, you will have the emails of the others in your group in the "to" field. I probably should have put your group members forum names in there, but oh, well.... next time.

Perhaps one person from each group can initiate the emails to the rest and act as the group leader. I didn't collect anyone's phone number. Perhaps I should have? Oh, well.... next time.

Maybe Petedadink or BDawg (our only two certified judge participants) can chime in here - but I was thinking about how we can make the judging process a little easier for some of the people that have never formally judged.... especially with a Specialty Category 23.

Perhaps it would be best to leave half of each bottle full during the tasting, and "double back" for a mini-BOS round to tighten up scores. Go through each entry and give it a score, then go back to each one and make sure that each of your scores really falls in line with the overall score descriptors (ie. is the beer "Outstanding", "Excellent", "Very Good", etc.). I know that flight order is a factor even with very experienced judges. I can only imagine that it will have an even greater effect with less experienced judges - unless the beers are tasted together again (a la BOS).

Thoughts?

I tasted my fully carbed beer last night... it was sweet (finished too high), but the hops balanced out the sweetness. Not something I can drink a lot of, but a good beer none the less.

Weeeeeeeeellllllll! (as JZ would say) I finally tasted our entry fully carbed. It is DAMN good. Tasty really really dialed this recipe in. This is one good beer for anyone and everyone to brew. I gotta say this should required brewing material.
