8th Annual Upper Mississippi Mash-Out

Sun Dec 14, 2008 8:20 am

Here is an incredible competition you folks might want to check out. If you are thinking about entering something into the NHC this is the perfect warm up event to help you check out your recipe against some of the top brewers in the country.

8th Annual Upper Mississippi Mash-Out

Over the last eight years the Upper Mississippi Mash-out has grown to be one of the top homebrew contests in the country. Thanks to our generous sponsors over the years Mash-out has been able to provide a fabulous prize to every winner in each category along with a hand-made wooden chalice for the best-in-show winners for beer, mead, and cider. This is an AHA/BJCP-sanctioned contest and is organized jointly by the St. Paul Home Brewers Club and the Minnesota Home Brewer's Association.

The Mash-Out is the opening event in the High Plains Brewer of the
Year Award 2009, the Midwest Brewer of the Year Award 2009 and the MCAB 2010.

Way to go Meister! Remember, it needs to be there by Saturday and UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday. So be sure to ask when it will get there.

I shipped mine today from here in Nebraska and they said it will get there on Thursday. I only entered one beer this time, an English Barleywine. I have 3 other beers ready to be kegged, but having been out of town for much of the last 3 weeks I didn't get around to carbing and bottling any of those. Good Luck , Meister!

I was thinking about entering this comp. but didn't realize the cut off was so soon - Guess I better get the beer in the mail! I'm only a state away so hopefully I can still make it.

OK - I'm entered! Now all I gotta do is get the beer to UPS, they say they can get it there in just 1 day. I'm excited! This will be my second comp, but the first was 3 years ago when I enter my first extract/specialty grain beer in the Schooner. Beer's not even packaged yet and I wish I had the results back already!

UMMO e-mailed me to let me know that they will be posting the results of the comp on their new blog while the awards ceremony is going on - I think that's pretty cool, not as cool as having the results broadcast on the BN, but not bad.
