Vinnie Chilurzo is on Channel 2 news right now (7:15 a.m. PST), predicting as much as an 8-hour wait in line to get into the pub for the Pliny the Younger release. People of course, are already lined up down the block for the 11:00 a.m. opening.

Similar things would happen at the Portsmouth Brewery for Kate the Great day. They would release it around 11am, but there would be people lined up at 2am. Not to mention it was usually in Feb. or March, in NH. Todd Mott has since left the brewery (and opening his own place this spring :drink ) so they don't do it anymore.

How long does the Younger last? Will it be gone the same day?

No idea how long the beer lasts. I'm not interested in spending 8 hours fighting the crowd to find out. Plus, they do releases in various other places around the Bay Area.

I dont think its gone at the brewery the same day, but down in SoCal, the pubs that get it will blow thru a half barrel in a day easy, serving 4oz tasters sometimes...its ridiculous IMO.

This is the downfall of craft beer. This over hyped beer has gotten out of hand. No beer is worth 8 hours of my time. I spent 2 hours tracking down Hopslam. It was very good, but not worth 2 hours of my time. My wife always tells me that it's the "hunt" not necessarily the beer itself that I'm getting involved with.

Beer is a stress reliever not a stress creator...

No beer is worth it. Especially when you can brew it.

8 hours for a pint vs 8 hours for a keg. These are the things I tell my woman so I can brew more beer.

At least with Darkness Day at Surly, they have bands and all kinds of good shit happening. And you can buy it and bring it home.
And it fucking freezing outside.

All times are UTC - 8 hours
