What: We are the oldest, and one of the largest, of just a handful of Mead-Only competitions in the USA.

When: May 28-29th. The deadline to get your meads to us is May 6th. Online registration and payment will open April 20th.

Where: 1700 South Magnolia Ave. Sanford Fl. 32771
But don't send your entries here! See below!

Send your entries to: Meadllennium 2011
c/o Kathleen Hicks
1461 La Paloma Circle
Winter Springs, FL 32708

Why: Provide the home-meadmaker the very best evaluation of their mead, and offer
informative feedback about the qualities of their mead.
AND, THERE ARE ALSO OUR BEAUTIFUL AND DISTINCTIVE PRIZES.

How: Some of the best mead judges in the country will be here to evaluate your meads.
We are proud to have a number of BJCP National, Master and Grand Master ranked
judges and a wine sommelier to help us this year. And, the Alliance of Sommeliers has
graciously loaned their special, lead-crystal, glasses to us again this year.

How Much: Still only $6.00 per entry

What’s New: In 2011, we will, once again, have a special category – WOOD-AGED MEAD. In the “Compleat Meadmaker” , Ken Schramm states, “Simply put, oak and mead are a match.”, and “…the effects...on wine and mead border on evidence of a higher power.”
And, at least twice, the Best-of-Show at Meadllennium has been an oak-aged mead.
So we will have a separate category and a separate medal for this very special type of
mead. No special rules! It can be a traditional, a melomel, a cyser, a pyment, a metheglin,
a braggot, or mixed category mead. It can be still or sparkling, sweet, medium or dry.
If it is oak-aged (or any other wood), it belongs in this special category.

We have updated the bottle requirements: We still encourage sending THREE 12-14
oz. bottles, FOUR 10 oz. or TWO 750ml bottles. But we know how precious our mead is,
so, this year, we will allow TWO 12-14 oz. bottles, THREE 10 oz. or ONE 750ml bottles,
WITH THE CLEAR UNDERSTANDING THAT YOU MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR
THE BEST OF SHOW ROUND OF JUDGING. Our B.O.S. panel has 4-5 judges, and
each requires a 2 oz. sample. We will do our best to save enough of your mead, but, if
there is not enough left, you will not be included in the B.O.S round.
All the details, and the forms, will be updated very soon at the MEADLLENNIUM web
page: http://www.cfhb.org/mead
