So, what's the skinny on the GABF?
When are the best nights to go?
Who's going to be there?

I feel like an asshat, I've lived in CO all my life and had never heard about the GABF until last year (and I couldn't go). So this year I'm going then I'm crawling down to the Faling Rock Taphouse and getting shitty.

Well hell i was just looking at the festival info trying to figure out a cheap way to go. Going to have to work ot to get the money. Looking for cheap stays found a place for 40 a night five minutes from down town. If anybody is going and wants to pay 20 a night for a place to stay I am going to try and go all 4 days.

I sent you a pm, Henning. I'm in for at least 2 nights. Which hotel and where. I used to live in the area. Some of those cheap places are in areas where you don't want to be stumbling to in less than sober condition.

Bug has a good point there. I'll try to be as helpful as possiible, however I don't stay downtown too often.

..And when I lived there back in 1999-2000 the public transportation was lacking to say the least. Even the cabs were few and far between....

I'm hoping beyond hope that I can go, but I know that I can't. My Wife just won't have it with a (going to be) 4 month old baby...

The Skinny - The 2006 edition will be the 25th installment of the nation’s premier, annual celebration of America’s breweries and rich brewing culture. The festival will feature 1600 of the nation’s best beers from over 380 American breweries. Once again, it will be the biggest selection of American beers ever gathered together in the United States. (per the GABF website)
Best night to go: Either Thursday evening or Saturday connoisseur. Thursday night is good because of fewer people at the normal ticket cost and all the participating breweries are guaranteed to be there. Saturday connoisseur is good also, fewer people then the evening sessions, winners are announced, nearly all brewers are there (some might have run out), but the ticket cost is a little higher. The other sessions (Friday and Sat night) are too many people IMO and all the college kids that simply drink as much as they can hold regardless of what it is.
Who's going - My brew club (Mile high monks) and most other brew clubs will be going to the Saturday connoisseur session. I might try to make the Thursday session if I can get out of working on Friday.

Falling Rock is a great place regardless of when you go, but if you do your duty at which ever session you end up going to, there won't be a need to tie another one on at Falling Rock.

A husker living in Colorado, that is a tough life. I will be at that Saturday afternoon session. The evening could be rather rough...

The Falling Rock is awsome, I've talked to some of the bartenders, they say the place is pretty jumping durring the GABF. For you out of town guys, the Bull and Bush Pub is awsome too, but it is a ways (maybe 4-5 mi. ?) from down town. There are plenty of breweries downtown too; Great Divide, Flying Dog, Sand Lot, Breckenridge, Wynkoop, and The Chop House are all pretty good, and within walking distance of the Convention Center.
