Congrats to Craig Myer for winning the GEBL Hop Madness IPA Bracket Challenge! Craig flew his colors strong identifiing his club as the Brewing Network.
The competition had a total of 52 entries from 31 brewers, the largest IPA flight in the state of Washington. It was also BJCP sanctioned as well as a WAHA WHOTY qualifier.
GEBL would like to thank you for helping make the competition a success. The competition wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our sponsors. The Balefire provided us a place to hold the event, and Breiss, Northern Brewer, Wyeast, Hops Direct, Hop Union, Beer Smith and White Labs generously donated prizes. These companies have taken the time to help support homebrewers and homebrew clubs, so please take to support them in return.
We had a great flight of IPAs with some phenomenal entries. All the beers where scored in the first round according to their respective BJCP styles. The top 16 beers in each category where then ranked and seeded into the bracket based upon their BJCP score. The second round was a head to head format with the beers being judged for best overall impression. The top two beers in each category advanced to the Best of Show round where the overall category winner and the best of show winners were determined. Attached you will find the final bracket standings.
Congratulations to the following brewers:
* Craig Myer from Olympia, WA for his 1st place beer with a Black IPA.
* Colin Lenfesty from Seattle, WA for his 2nd place beer, Hop Chowder, an American IPA.
* Isaac Hanks from Everett, WA for his 3rd place beer, Lupulin Lunatic, an Imperial IPA
* Colin Lenfesty from Seattle, WA for his 4th place beer, Beacon Hell, an Imperial IPA.
Cheers,
Will Fredin (TeamOly) / Dan Hansen (UnaHopper)
