Beer School the beer (and the start of Strong Beer Month)

Sun Jan 31, 2010 10:02 pm

if you aren't doing anything tomorrow come by 563 2nd St for the opening of Strong Beer Month. which is a month long festival held at 21st Amendment and Magnolia in San Francisco. one of the beers on the flight (or should I say fright) is Beer School. a beer that I got to brew with Jessie. actually he mostly stood around and watched while I did all hard jobs. fun times. Beer School is a dry hopped Blonde that rolls in at 9.1% ABV.

Richard of Elizebeth Street Brewing also got to brew a bigger version of his ESB entry for the last years GABF Pro/Am entry. plus there are three other beers and five other beers at Mags.

we ring the bell at 5PM kicking off the month of great beer. hopefully you can join us. or should I just say "GET HERE!"

I want to thank everyone for making their way to the event of the beginning of Strong Beer Month and drinking my first commercial beer. Chad and McDole were already there when I arrived. and that was just the beginning of wave of all of my friends. Richard from Elizabeth Street Brewing (who has a real fake pub in his basement) brought his kids who helped ring the bell. I can't really describe how all this felt. even hung over like hell it's still an amazing buzz. I'm sure this gets old at some point. but I don't know how it could.

here are some highlights: Tasty egging me on that I need to brew more. the girl that lost her mind when I told her I brewed the beer she was drinking. my friends saying "I really like your beer!" and then ordering another one. hearing random people saying "I love this!" and finally punching the "get a free glass score card" for my beer.

I don't think I took enough pictures. but here's some of the ones I managed to take.
