Homebrew Festival - August 29th (Washington State)

Lakewood Rotary Homebrew Festival
August 29th 2009
$1000 Cash Prizes + Tons of Donated Prizes

I'm helping organize a new homebrew festival to take advantage of Bill 5060 which just went into effect two weeks ago. It's the first event in the state of Washington where homebrewers will be allowed to share their beer with people outside the homebrew community. We're working with a local Rotary club to put on an event that will benefit Rotary projects (local youth programs specifically), homebrewers, and festival attendees alike.

It's going to be August 29th out near Orting, WA. For legal reasons it's a private event. But if you know the password (email me) you can buy tickets. Or if you bring beer to serve at the event, you get in for free. Only beers that are being served at the event are eligible for the competition.

After the festival all homebrewers are invited to camp out so you don't have to drive home. Check out the website for more info and to register: http://www.lakewoodrotaryhomebrewfestival.com/

Right now we only have a dozen brewers so everyone's going to be going home with some cash and/or shwag from all the sponsors we have lined up.

I hope to see some of you guys out there. It should be a fun event and a great chance to share ideas and homebrew with like-minded people. Let me know if you're coming so we can plan accordingly.

Cheers,
-Brandon

Brandon- If you read some of the other threads, or searched the forum you would have known that there are several other events planned for this month to celebrate senate bill 5060. I know that there is one in eastern washington planned by a forum member and one that is north of everett called beerstock 5060, and they are all before august 27.... your not first :p

Hey Tavish,

Yeah I couldn't make the one in Yakima but will be heading up to Beerstock this weekend. Both of those were exclusively for homebrewers whereas this one will be bringing people outside the homebrew community to sample our creations. Regardless, it's an exciting time for Washington homebrewers and it'll be fun to get our wares out there for non-homebrewers to try.

Yeah but isn't this one kind of exclusive since its a "private event" and need a password for tickets?

Yeah for legal reasons, everyone's got to make these events exclusive in one way or another. There's just no way to do a homebrew event involving the public in the state of Washington. But we're still trying to share our hobby with others who haven't experienced how great it can be. We are happy to share this with as many people as possible but just can't post the event password publicly. If you're interested in attending or bringing beer, just shoot me a PM.

All times are UTC - 8 hours
