Let me welcome you properly....I hate you! :)

Seriously, have a great time in Munich. I have to settle for Oktoberfest in Boston.

Also, Justin could probably give you some good places to go in Paris while your wife shops...there's an archive of the Sunday show where he talks about his trip last year.

Another first-timer here. Wife and I are going with another couple. Spending two weeks in southern Germany and western Austria, with the last two days being the first two days of Oktoberfest. We booked our hotel last fall, so we've only got a 10 minute walk to the fairgrounds.

I'll be there sometime in the first week of the fest. All depends when my mate in London can get time off work. I'll be sure to wear my BN Army colours.

Head down South Near the Austrian border in the Alps and check out Neuschwanstein. The ole lady will freaking love it. See if you can get a room in a place called Schloß (pr. Shloss) Restaurant. It's a little bed and breakfast on top of the mountain just at the foot of the castle itself.

There are 2 castles there....Neuschwanstein (Disney Castle) and Schloß Hohenschwangau. The latter was a Summer home to the royal family of Bavaria (Maximilian, Ludwig, etc). Great history, World class views...

At any of the local restaurants, try a REAL Jägerbraten (hunter's steak). Fucking delicious. Pigs, mushrooms, gravy and spätzle.

Don't order a Pils in Bavaria that far south. They're proud of their Paulaner.

You can take the train if you want or just have the nuts to rent a damn car over there. Get an international driving permit from AAA and read up on the signs.

Prosit!
