Entry From completeness

Hi :asshat:'s

I'm thinking of entering into the So. Cal Regional Championship. I've never entered a competition before and was surprised about the entry form and the recipe specifics. I've got all that for one beer, but I have a mead that I threw together a year ago, based on a rough recipe and don't have notes on. What happens if I leave out some of the details? Can I put things like "roughly 12 lbs' or ''this many jars [holds up 9 fingers]" ?

Also if I'm dropping off at More Beer, what kind of packaging do I need? Will they just accept the bottles in a 6 pack (only need 2).

You can just drop off 2 bottles, and they will organize them and put them into carriers or cases as they see fit. I have NO idea why most entry forms have you fill out the recipe. No judge gets to see those, anyway - because they have your name on it, also. The only person that sees those is the organizer. Maybe some organizers with a lot of time on their hands review them for stylistic accuracy and could potentially contact you if they thought that you entered the wrong category, based on your ingredients. I haven't heard of this ever happening. Buy the time it gets to the judges table - it's going to be judged in the category it was entered in - whether or not it should be. I wouldn't stress out about it.

On a side note, I feel I should mention that documentation is paramount - even if its just for your own benefit. Brewers that take copious notes can not only improve faster, but repeat things that they got "lucky" on.

Thanks, Mylo! So I won't worry about and may put "this many jars" just to mess with folks

I'm taking much better notes now, and I'm using ProMash which really helps.

Thanks again
Cheers!
