NHC 2009- All gave some, some gave all

Thanks not only to the tireless efforts of all the volunteers who made the thing happen but all the participating clubs and attendees as well. Especially Tasty and his cellarmen. Randy, Jessie, Jonathan and the rest of those guys really worked their asses off, often missing the fun of the convention in the process. Thanks again.

The top memories for me will be drinking Supplication for the first time, meeting BN Army troops and B3 forum regulars, Tomme Aurthur's presentation and obvious passion for making interesting and very accessible beers, pouring from 29 faucets for adoring fans of DOZE beers and Push telling me, "I've met BeerPal and you're not him." Not to mention all the great beers we drank on Club Night.

Completely fucking cool event. I will absolutely try to go to NHC 2010.

Is this the name of one of the bands at BN4? :)

I was hoping for a more east coast venue for NHC 2010, but hopefully can make the trip to MN.

The NHC is like no other homebrew event. There's nothing that can be said that will prepare you for your first and your second will somehow be just as good or better.

I knew the cellar would be a lot of work because I had to anticipate and plan for every aspect. My team of Randy Griggs, Jonathan Sheehan, and Steve Northcutt performed beyond all my expectations. I couldn't imagine a better crew. And we couldn't have done it without the volunteers from DOZE that showed up during the peaks and at other times to give us a rest when we needed it. They showed up big for the pre-conference cellaring of the second round entries and just as big during the conference. When they moved 500 kegs from the cellar to the Club Night floor in 30 minutes with complete accuracy, I was in complete awe.

I received endless compliments about how well the cellaring went. Many were from previous cellar masters. I can't say enough good things about the job that Randy Griggs did. Anyone who was there must have seen him dozens of times. Often running down the halls. As he and I rest our very sore feet today, he can take comfort in a job well done.

Tasty

Hear Hear for the cellar folks. Being on the front line of the seminars I can attest to the super pro job done at delivering all of the beer on time and going above and beyond to help me with tapping/pouring issues along the way. I saw Randy so much I think a few times he actually was in at least 2 places at the same time. Don't even get me started on Club night. Amazing.

I was blown away by the organization of the entire event. First and foremost, there was excellent beer pouring wherever you turned from 9am til 2am (and after). The only time I waited on a line for more than 45 seconds was waiting to get in to the banquet, but by then nobody seemed to care. Every event and lecture started right on time, causing me to miss out on the first ten minutes of half the lectures. Club night blew my mind - in four hours it was impossible to taste more than an eighth of those beers because of the sheer volume. Thanks go out to the organizers and all the volunteers; I didn't have a single negative experience/impression during the entire event (an understatement - everything far exceeded my expectations). Even my non-brewer friends had a great time.

PS - the same thing goes for BNA4 - great beer, great place.

I can attest that NHC exceeded ALL expectations. I told my wife when I got back that if I could only get 1oz pours from one quarter of the amount of beers there that I couldn't do it. There is no way. I have never seen that many different beers in one place at one time.

Tasty - you and your crew rocked the house. I can't imagine all the work it took to organize and deal with that much beer. FLAWLESS EXECUTION, my brotha.

I wish you could have hung out more, and have had a little less stress - but that's what next year's for.

PS - Junket said "blown".

I'll have to agree with all the comments so far. Being my first NHC, I had no idea what to expect, and I was completely fucking blown away by how well this massive event was organized! Tasty and crew, you guys friggin' rock! Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication.

P.S. Watching Randy sprint across the convention center every twenty minutes, swinging his arms like a mad man was one of the funniest things I saw there!

All times are UTC - 8 hours
