NHC 2009 Tips, Advice, etc.

Thu Jun 11, 2009 6:19 pm

I am torn about how much time to split between the conference and San Francisco. This is because last year I absolutely loved hanging out in the hospitality suite, sampling and talking to other hombrewers. Likewise, we were in Cincy's not-so-good suburb. Not to knock Cincinatti, but other than NHC there really wasn't much going on, no real reason to leave the hotel.

We are looking to hit 21A, Rogue Ale House, in addition to the other touristy stuff. Any other places not to miss? I called Anchor Brewing for a tour about 2 months ago and they said all their reservations were full.

It's a tough call. The NHC is best place on the planet to be during Weds-Sat.
Leaving is super tough because of the hospitality suite and the ever changing beers, brewers, etc.
The classes offer more tasting and sampling as well.

Being as your not from the west coast missing Rogue, 21a and others is tough.... I say do what you gotta do, make time for a few brewery stops, your so close!

I was looking at Friday or Thurs during the day... about 11am -5pm or so... hitting Rogue/21A for a drink.
It's dangerous, because I don't want to ruin Pro/Club night with being too tore up to appreciate the brews :D :P

You'll certainly want to hit the town and visit the sites, but keep in mind that Chad has lined up 52 of the best breweries around for Pro Night. You're going to get a chance to try many of them right there, so you don't have to go crazy trying to visit every place on your own.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

Remember that it's a marathon, not a sprint! I usually forget that myself, to my chagrin.

If you have the opportunity, extend your trip through Sunday and use that day to do some beer or other tourism around the Bay.
