21st Amendment during NHC

Fri May 15, 2009 6:46 pm

Is there enough time to hit 21A during the "lunch on your own" 11:15-1:30 on Friday or Saturday during NHC? Is anybody else planning on going during the conference or before?

Good question. As lunch is open each day and Bart is close, it would be interesting to explore other options than the Marriott.

Also, any good lunch places near the hotel, or easy to get to on public transport?

That would be cool to mobilize the :bnarmy: for a lunch trip to 21A. Maybe somebody local could say if it's realistic.

I was just at the Oakland Marriott this past weekend for Sam Adams LongShot Western Regional judging and some NHC pre-conference work. From the front door of the hotel the 12th Street BART station is about 35 steps across the street to the East, from here you can hit a multitude of places. Check out the Beer-By-BART link on the pre-conference page.

Within walking distance of the hotel beer-wise

Pacific Coast Brewing Co. - About 30 steps from the West Hall Conference Center
The Trappist - 1 1/2 blocks West of the hotel

There will be a survival guide in your welcome package that you get when you check in telling you were to find local beer, food, ATM, bail bondsmen, etc.

There's a place in the city (SF) called La Trappe, the food there is orgasmic, and they have exclusively belgian beers on tap, including rodenbach. If you go try the rabbit stew or the waterzooi, that shit will blow your mind.

21A does have a radical setup too, and I wouldn't miss that either.

If you had a pre-loaded BART ticket and didn't have to fiddle with buying one, got out of the seminar on time, and new exactly where you were going you could catch the 11:27 am BART and arrive at Montgomery station at 11:40am. Depending on how fast you walk you should get to 21A in about 15 minutes.

Reverse this to get back, there is a 1:09 pm BART that gets you back at 1:22 pm.

Seems to me that you could be at 21A for about 50 minutes or so if you really wanted.
