Amber Waves of Grain

Sun Feb 15, 2009 7:45 am

Hey Army,

First off, :bnarmy: Reminder, Deadline is the 21st. :bnarmy:

Who's all entering the AWOG? I am sending in a Saison, Belgian Golden Strong, Northern English Brown, and maybe an APA.... It's going to be my first comp, looking forward to some feedback.

I wonder if we have anyone who works that comp on the forum who we can harass

What are you all entering?

Quick Q too, the deadline is feb 21st... does that mean they need to be shipped by the 21st, or received by the 21st? (I have a feeling I'll have to two day them on Wednesday, or take an 8 hr drive to buffalo.)

I've submitted 2 entries. An oak-aged brown ale, in the wood-aged category, and my first all-grain, Jamil's Southern English Brown.

It's my first competition and I am eager to get feedback too. Wish I had more to enter. I haven't gotten to brew in a while.

I competed in AWOG last year, pretty big thing in upstate NY, and I'm sure you're already aware of the fact that AWOG is part of the NYHOTY. You'll want your shipment there by the 21st, otherwise you've contributed beer for someone to drink and not judge.

I anticipated being part of the contest, but many of my samples have suffered bouts of in-fuck-shun. Good job me for cleaning my shit, eh?

you can ask all questions to me....i know the organizer...he is a complete asshole!

i'm the organizer!

um, we got some nice prizes lined up this year. What is more important is that we get a lot of good judges to show up to this thing. The feedback you get should be very constructive. However, now and then volunteers do get lazy.

If you expect your entries to come in late just let me know and we'll take care of it. So long as you ship them to the Buffalo address, you should be fine.

I am entering 28 beers! I am in the club that puts this competition on, the Niagara Assoc. of Homebrews and I'm entering with The Brewing Network as my club.... My fellow club members have been busting my balls constantly about it because I actually am trying to win the NYSHOTY.

I'm a lucky man. I'm going in as the complete under dog.

My first 4 all grain batches are being entered in this comp. I have a Cal Common, Oatmeal Stout, Irish Red and an English IPA.

If I somehow manage to win, I get great braging rights. If, as I suspect, I lose I can say "hey, I'm a newb". It's the best of both worlds.
