Anyways, bcmaui. Toronado and Magnolia's are like 8 blocks away from each other. 547 Haight for the Toronado and 1398 Haight Magnilia's so you can definitely hit both on the same day/night.
Depending on what time you plan on being there, I'd suggest a couple options.
1) few beers at Toronado and then head up to Magnolia's to eat (catch the bus right across Haight from Toronado and it's just a 5 minute ride). The food at Magnolia's is ridiculous. Then after eating walk back down to Toronado and drink a few more beers.
2) Cut out the 2 trips to Toronado (although you couldn't possibly experience the place in just one visit) and drink at Toronado and then go eat at Magnolia's or eat at Magnolia's and then go drink at Magnolia's.
Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong. It's also SUPER east to get from the beer places on Haight to the 21A. One muni bus/train thing and a couple blocks to walk and you're there.
I'm not really missing out on the NHC, I think it'd be way too overwhelming for me, but the chance to spend a week in/near SF is killing me.
