YOU DON'T DRINK OJ AND BRUSH YOUR TEETH BEFORE JUDGING!

maybe they picked one of the lower alcohol beers because its going to be served at Gillette. i know if they served a maibock at ralph wilson (the BILLS!) stadium, i'd be piss drunk before the second quarter, naked, and streaking the field!

It's definitely Sam Adams' prerogative if they want the style to be somewhat accessible for the venue, but it should be stated in the rules so people aren't wasting their time brewing biere de gardes and whatnot.

Looking back, the rules said: "The final round of judging, will take place between February 3, 2009 and April 26, 2009. Judging will be done by The Boston Beer Company Brewmasters, beer judges from the Beer Judge Certification Program and other qualified judges."

not talking about that guy in the article here but....you can take the BJCP exam, fail, and still be an apprentice judge. I've judged with a bunch apprentice judges...most of them really shouldn't be judges.

Definitely.. all the same, you'd hope that you'd have the cream of the crop for something like this, or the Longshot finals. They can judge however they like it; I just think they should be clear if it's being judged differently than what you'd normally expect from a BJCP-sanctioned comp.

Ah well, on to the next one. :)
