It was in the Belgian Dark Strong Ale category and scored 32.5, not bad but I knew it wasn't my best effort. Especially the way Quaff totally dominated the Southwest region. Got to bring it STRONGER (excuse the pun) next year... :bnarmy:
Good Luck to all the BNer's that Advanced!! :jnj

Don't even get me started on QUEEFF. There are A LOT of douchebags in that club. I know there are some good guys there too, but I get the impression they are not the majority, at least of those I've met.

Everybody I've meet from Quaff have been totally cool. I haven't attended a meeting though. Paul Sangster was very gracious in invitiing me to attend his Big Brew Day at his home and the boys from Ballast Point have always been very helpful. And of course The Pope JZ has ties to Quaff...maybe you just cuaght them on a bad day. :drink

Paul is a super nice guy. I wonder what beer you guys brewed

Congrats to all the winners and best of luck in the second round!

Can you change the style subcategory if you rebrew for the final round? ie. if your first round entry was 2A but the winners were for all of category 2, could you brew a 2B for the next round? Would that comply with the NHC rules and, just as importantly, Brewer's Code?

Actually I didn't make it. I had family matters to take care of, but Paul mentioned having two brews going on 2 different B3 1550's. One was Dave Levonian's Saison and the other I beleive was an IPA.

I know the other one was an IPA... therein lies hint.

I don't doubt that they're generally good guys. George and the other Homebrew Mart dudes certainly are. I'm sure the ones I've spoken to that I wanted to punch in the head were the minority, but they've kinda soured me (not in a good way). It's not even that they were assholes or anything, just that they annoyed the fuck outta me.

But that's neither here nor there. Congrats to everybody who advanced. I wish I could be in Oakland first hand, but since I can't, hope to hear my name called out over the BN podcast! :jnj

You can brew anything you want, but the information the judges get is that it is the same category that placed in the first round. You can't change that, so you'd be best off to enter something that will do well in the category assigned.
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

Hey Jamil: Any new recipes in competition this year, or all re-brews of the tried and true BCS? (trying to squeeze some new shows out of any new ones 8) )
