First time I have seen this beer on Maui.

It's Keoki made on Kauai

I have been to Kauai twice this year and had Keoki both times over there on tap in Hanalei (North Shore).

In January I went to my friend Sam's house for his 50th anniversary. I first met Sam about 18-19 years ago when I lived on Kauai part time.

Last month I visited Sam again - he was diagnosed with cancer in March and I went to visit him after he stopped chemo treatment.

Sam passed away about a week and half after I saw him.

I go back to Kauai at the end of this month when they will scatter his ashes off the coast of Hanalei where he was born a little more than 70 years ago.

I drank many beers with Sam and this beer is for Sam.

Cheers Sam and Aloha

Sam spoke Hawaiian and was one of the few pure Hawaiian people I have met and considered a close friend.

He was in the Marine Corps and played on the football team (Navy?) and he married a lady from Iowa, so his children are only 50% Hawaiian and 50% Haole (Euro-Anglos not from Portugal or Spain).

Most of us living here in Hawaii are all mixed up racially and we are more comfortable joking about each culture's stereotypes than worring about being politically correct.

Here's to Sam!

Well, I can't say that I am officially playing Bomber-a-Day month, but I have had a few over the last couple of weeks... Now I can't relax and have a bomber without taking a picture of it... sick, really.

My favorite (picture, not beer) is Misty and Kerri Eiffel-Towering my beer.
