I'll be the first naysayer regarding many "session beers" in general ... there's nothing I'd want to brew less than a 60 shilling, red, or mild, and I don't really see how brewing a session beer will necessarily help anyone refine their process more than anything else.

I'll be the first naysayer of your naysaying. I think the lighter styles expose process flaws far more than bigger beers.
