Let's talk NHC

Wed Jun 22, 2011 8:01 am

So, let's talk about NHC rather than all the debates about The BN winning Club of the Year. For the time being we fit the requirements of being a "club" with the AHA and we won. If the whiners want to man up and petition the AHA to change the requirements for being a club, let them have at it. We'll modify the club to meet the new requirements and continue to compete.

So, I'm interested in hearing what you thought of NHC. This was my first so I can't compare it to any of the others, but I have to say it was completely overwhelming.

I drank WAY too much all weekend and I'm pretty disappointed in my behavior and hope to make the most of it next year. It's daunting to have the NHC in your home town. Your entire club is there, you're expected to volunteer and hang out as a club the entire time, serve beer and all that jazz. This stuff and my excessive drinking kept me from meeting a lot of you (sorry for my sheer drunkenness to those of you I did meet) and from attending many of the events.

Next year will be different though. Not many from the club will be attending, I probably won't be bringing beer or serving at club night or whatever 2012's version of the Tiki Room is and I'll be able to get away from the hotel and explore more with the Army.

Also, what did you guys think of San Diego? Did any of you make it to any of the local bars or breweries, did you go on the brewery tours? Did you like the hotel, the weather and did it seem expensive?

Finally, did any of you try my Sour Saison a Club Night? I pretty much don't remember a thing from Club night, but the guys in the club said it was rather popular because there weren't many sour beers being served.

Lemme know!

We can all say we drank to much and next time we won't. It will be hard not to try and sample as much as possible between Pro Night from breweries we can't get our hands on to Club Night sampling all of the fine home crafted beers. On day two I know during the seminars I had water and juice till Paxton started serving Firestone Saucer Full of Secretes and than I was like hell with it poor me some more.

I had a great time at the NHC. Wish I would have not stayed up for 24 hours drinking the first day though...
San Diego is a beautiful city. I got to make it downtown, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, and a drive through some other cool areas.
I liked the Tiki lounge. Drinking outside with perfect weather, talking to great people and drinking beer is too much fun. Good reason why I didnt sleep too much.
The conference center was huge. I perferred the hotel in MN, but as noted earlier, I loved the Tiki Lounge.
One surprising thing about San Diego was what the women wore downtown. It was hard to believe how tight and short the skirts were....

The thing I hated about the hotel was the bugs, probably BED BUGS. Anybody else get bit? I have around 10 bites that itch like hell and swelled up. I threw out my suitcase this morning.

See you all in Seattle next year. Im bringing bed bug spray...

I want Matt to share some stories of his drunken behavior.

Hah, I heard a story but I am not going to be the one to recount it.

I'd recount stories if I could remember them. I talked to Jake and Dawson from Brewing TV, I held hands with Kim Wood for about 4.46 seconds, I shook Andy Wood's hand on the way into the banquet. I think I spent the most time with ZZ.

I briefly remember meeting Rhino and TampaBrewer. I met Ta2 & wife, Mylo, Blober and the (in my opinion) best looking...dancer(?) from BNA6 ground her ass on my junk.

I also made a, albeit drunken, attempt to talk to JP, and that's the last attempt I'll ever make to interact with that dude :) What a douche!

Oh, and Justin remembered me finally. Not as San Diego Matt, but as the guy who always talks about VW's with him.

Chris, If I met you, it's completely escaped my memory :jnj
