Looking for a beer-centric vacation spot

I think most of the beer Sam Adams puts out is brewed in PA.

Speaking of which...PHIIIIIILLLLLYYYYY!!! Philly is a fantastic beer town. A LOT of great beer bars and several excellent breweries in the city (Yards, sometimes PBC, Nodding Head, Dock Street, Earth Bread). You're also within short driving distance to DFH (shortish), Stoudts, Sly Fox, Flying Fish, Iron Hill locations (which won a lot a GABF hardware this year), and you can take a quick train ride to Victory.

I'll be there too if they have it in Philly. Plus from what I understand, the Philly area is the only place on the east coast that I can get Pliny and some other goodies from the left coast. I'll start saving now!

They do make beer there, it is just a pilot system for test batches. The fake part is they call themselves Boston Beer Co but didn't actually buy the Boston brewery until the mid '90s. The tour is nothing special if you've been on other beer tours. The best part of mine was they had Tasty's Longshot beer on tap when I was there.

good to know that it's actually brewing something. because it seemed like a colossal waste when it was "just for show and tell".

One of the advantages of having such a great beer scene is that brewers will distribute here even if they don't normally leave their local region. Still no Firestone Walker though, which makes me sad.

Back to the original point, though. Don't blow off DFH. From there, you're within easy driving distance (1-3 hours) of fantastic PA, NJ and MD breweries and pubs.

I'll add one that hasn't been mentioned. Portland, ME. There are quite a few brew pubs and breweries making some great beer. You can easily get around without a car. Plus, you're only 2 hours away from Ebenezer's Pub.
