The 2009 Central Florida Home Brewers (CFHB) Sunshine Challenge Homebrew Competition will bring hundreds of finest home brewers to Orlando, Florida from November 12 – 14th. We invite you to SC09 at Holiday Inn in Orlando. Events tickets can be purchased on CFHB website: www.cfhb.org/sunshine
The 19th Sunshine Challenge will be held at the Holiday Inn, 5905 S. Kirkman Road, Orlando, FL 32819 -- 407-351-3333 -- Directly across the street from Universal Studios.
Entries are now being accepted. Entry deadline is Monday, November 2nd. Go to the website at www.cfhb.org/sunshine to enter your beer and get shipping or drop-off instructions. Sunshine Challenge is both an MCAB qualifying event (http://www.masterhomebrewer.org/) as well as the final event in the Florida Circuit. We have kept our entry fee at the same low-low $6.00 per entry (discounts for 10+ entries) for many years.
Pre-judging will be the weekend before in scenic Sorrento, FL. Our pre-judging schedule is Friday, November 6th, 6:30-9:00pm, Saturday, November 7th, 9:00-6:00pm, and
Sunday, November 8th, 9:00-6:00pm. We welcome any and all judges as well as judge candidates and interested parties.
Events for the weekend of fun and beer:
Thursday, November 12th we will have the traditional Belgian Beer & Stinky Cheese party. The SC09 Suite will provide a place to gather and the only cost to you for this event is to bring a 750 mL bottle of Belgian Beer (or more) and cheese.
Friday, November 13th we are planning a BeerFest. Commercial Sponsors will be present giving out samples of beer from their Florida breweries and distributors; such as Shipyard, Swamphead Brewery, Left Hand Brewing Company, Seven Bridges Brewery, Big C Liquor, and Bold City Brewery. In addition, CFHB and other local clubs will have booths of homebrew to share.
The fun continues on Saturday! Attendees will begin with a special breakfast beer and learned seminar with Bob Hansen of Briess Malting, followed by the resumption of judging. In the afternoon there is a Pub-Crawl with the bus picking up crawlers at the hotel front door and returning them just in time for a bit of rest before the Awards Banquet including a huge Raffle. Tickets can be purchased on club website www.cfhb.org/sunshine NOW. Don't pay at the door prices!
