Well guys... the Bock Fest and Goat Races were this past weekend. The weather didn't really cooperate with the event - cold and raining almost the entire day - but there was fun to be had by all. Sly Fox had a great little Oompa Band, several different kinds of wurst (Brat, Knokt, Weisse), Bavarian Pretzels and of course... beer. The helles was pretty good, as was the Pikeland Pils, but of course, I was there for the bock. The didn't seem to have as many different kinds as I thought they would. I had the Slacker Bock (which is their traditional bock, I believe) and that was pretty good. I also got to try the Eis version of the Slacker - which was good. I don't know if it is something I could drink all the time, but I enjoyed that as well. I kind of liked the Slacker Bock on its own. It was malty without being too sweet. I'm normally not a huge fan of Bock beers, but I enjoyed this.
Of course, the beer and food were good... but the goat races were something else. I watched goats of all sizes race... some ran fast, some not so fast, some wouldn't even leave the starting line. I will say that I was hanging out with the winner well before the races even started. He was a pretty nice guy... pretty drunk by the end of the day. Dax was a great little black pigmy goat... hell of a runner.
I recommend it and will be returning next year. It was just fun.
SlyFox Championship Race - I was taking pictures of the day and then remembered right before the finals that my camera can do short videos. Enjoy.
