Support the BN by entering in the 2009 Homebrew at the W.E.B

Sat Jan 17, 2009 9:49 am

All,

This is the second year that the Cass River Homebrew Club, located in Mid Michigan, will organize the Homebrew at the W.E.B. competition. The W.E.B. is the World Expo of Beers, and is one of Michigan's largest brewing festival drawing more than 10,000 people every year. The festival brings a lot of great beer to the area; offers beer education classes, and culminates in a BJCP certified professional competition. Last year we decided to add a homebrew competition to the list of events, and it went quite well. We had 223 entries from 78 brewers in 11 states, more than we anticipated...and this year we'd like to blow that out of the water.

This year we’ve decided to include the Brewing Network in our competition, and this is where you all come in. What I would like to do is challenge the BN Army to represent the BN. The Cass River Homebrew Club is going to donate one dollar to the Brewing Network for every entry that claims to have heard about our competition from the BN. Let’s face it, the BN has changed the face of homebrewing over the past few years, and they can always use some extra cash. I’m telling you, it breaks my heart to think about the unicorn and rainbow blowing sailors for loose change…A lot of us want to donate, but are strapped for cash. We figured that this is a good way for you to get quality feedback from judges about your brews while supporting the BN at the same time.

I know that this is early, as the entry deadline is not until April 24, but I wanted to get the word out there as soon as possible. You can find more information about the competition at http://www.hbd.org/cassriver. In keeping with the theme of the World Expo of Beer©, Homebrew at the W.E.B is open to homebrewers from anywhere and we are accepting entrees in BJCP categories 1 through 28.

I hope you can all enter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

BREW STRONG!

Crupp,

Can you make sure you bump this in March when I've totally forgotten about it.

Now I just have to brew something that tastes better than Justin's Star San beer.

I will definitely post again. I know it’s early. If I didn’t start doing this now, I’d forget all about it.
I appreciate the support!
