Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale

I bought a sixer of this without reading who the brewery was (AB). Have to say I thought it was kind of bland. Anyone else try it?

I had it last year and was pleasantly surprised. I will agree that it is a little dumbed down. It definitely tasted like it came out of a factory but on the other hand it is one of my favorite AB craft brews. Plus I found six packs of it in January for $4, massive overstock I guess.

I tried this a few weeks ago, and if its the same thing that I'm thinking it seemed a little too over the top with vanilla. I thought it was ok, but I really can offer any quality critique. I had a bottle of Snake Dog IPA prior to tasting it, and I was pretty drunk.
I think I've had about enough beer tonight...Now I need some Whiskey to sober up

Horrid nasty stuff. I could not give away the last 5 of the sixer I bought last year. I think I watered a half dead Spirea with it some time this last summer.

I had this at Old Chicago (restaurant chain) and was sorely dissappointed. Instead of just bitching about it to other friends who like good beer (which I usually do) I actually wrote AB an email. I wasn't all rude-like, I actually tried to keep it professional and whatnot.

How did that work out for you?

They said it would take 2-3 days to hear back from them. They'll prolly just ignore me. You know what though, if we could get loads of people to contact them... I wonder what we could accomplish. Maybe J can make an announcement on the BN for everyone to write an email to AB about the content and lack of flavor in their product.

I tried it a year or two back, before it was released - a buddy who works for an AB distributor gave me a sample bottle. I didn't think it was that good, but it's not really my style either. I tried it on tap at a restaurant a few months later, still no better. Of course, no reference to who made it anywhere in the restaurant.

What does it say about your company when you have to hide your brand name to sell products?
